REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY :

We look closely at every single factor in the region of your pain to identify what it the cause. Is it pinched nerve? Is it soft tissue tension? Is it ligament tear? IS it edema? We evaluate and determine the therapy aimed at reducing tightness in specific muscle or structure. This is generally introduced through a variety of soft tissue and ligament therapy methods such us massage, decompression and manipulation. For example a pinched nerve is caused by some anatomical structure placing pressure on a nerve and impairing its function. This problem may occur in many different areas of the body. Examples include Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (pain in the wrist), Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (pain in arm, shoulder), Piriformis Syndrome (pain in gluteal region), Brachial Plexus Impingement (pain and the weakness in the forearm), Sciatic nerve entrapment (pain and numbness in lower extremities). Dental hygienist, keyboard instrumentalists, violinists, data entry workers, assembly line and construction workers, professional athletes are typical examples who are at risk for pinched nerve syndromes. In our treatments we use a variety of Swedish techniques to decrease muscle tension and to alleviate stress from commonly overworked structures of the human body. In conjunction with the more traditional relaxation massage we utilize techniques such as Muscle Energy Techniques, Trigger Point Treatment , Joint mobilization and Hydrotherapy. We have experience treating a variety of particular cases such as pre and post-natal women, people affected with Multiple Sclerosis, sports injury and people with different muscle imbalances.

Therapeutic Massage

MEDICAL MASSAGE THERAPY
- Swedish Massage -

Swedish massage is the most common type of massage that one might receive at a spa. Swedish massage combines various hands-on techniques including gliding, kneading, and cross-fibre friction to break up muscle knots, called adhesions. Swedish massage is based on the Western medical philosophies of anatomy and physiology. Swedish massage can be slow and gentle light pressure massage. The therapist will typically use massage oil to lubricate the skin. A whole-body massage will usually take 60 minutes to complete.

- Deep Tissue Massage -

Deep tissue massage is a type of Swedish massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as a Swedish massage, but the pressure used will generally be greater. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.

- Pre and Post Natal Massage -

Massage during pregnancy is a therapeutic type of bodywork that is designed to address the massage needs of the pregnant woman as her body goes through the typical changes of gestation. Massage can be received in second and third trimester of pregnancy and is quite safe and often recommended by physicians, obstetricians, midwives and other related professionals. A pregnant woman's body is stressed in many ways during pregnancy and a prenatal massage can often be beneficial.

- Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) -

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle hands-on technique that stimulates the activity of the lymph vessels and manually moves lymph fluid. Applied correctly, a series of MLD treatments will generally decrease the volume of the affected extremity to a normal or near normal size. In the 1930's, the techniques of MLD were first introduced by Dr. Emil Vodder, PhD, MT, from Denmark. MLD is becoming widely recognized as a treatment for many pathologies, including post-surgical swelling, post-traumatic edema (e.g. sports injuries), migraine headache, rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia. MLD is also used to promote general relaxation, and for cleansing (detoxification) of the skin and superficial fascia.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. Each 1 ½ -hour hot stone massage therapy session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body. Our professional massage therapists also incorporate a customized massage, with the use of hot stones which offers enhanced benefits.

The premise behind hot stone massage therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers. Combining hot stone protocols with a full body massage provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a distinct

system of manual medicine where the core philosophy is that the human body possesses self-healing and self-regulatory mechanisms. The body's structure and its function are related, and the role of the Osteopath is to restore a balanced structural environment in the body.

The osteopath will first take a medical case history. Then she will observe posture and movements of the whole body. The treatment is performed through the application of techniques such as joint and soft tissue manipulation, stretches and other manual techniques, without the use of drugs or surgery.

Although Osteopaths predominantly treat disorders of the neck and back, they may also be able to help with certain types of headaches, pregnancy related lower back pain, jaw dysfunction, shoulder, wrist, foot, ankle and knee injuries.

The osteopaths from Euro Wellness Club are highly skilled in the use of spinal manipulation and use of 'palpation' which means the use of touch. A wide range of other techniques including myofascial release, muscle energy technique and trigger point therapy are just a few amongst the repertoire.

The process is dynamic and further sessions are scheduled depending on the outcome of the previous treatments as there is no standard recipe for a particular complaint. Some chronic conditions may require follow-up sessions for a few months whilst others are quicker to resolve.
